On Thursday May 12, JUNTOS brought together various animal welfare and environmental groups for the First Animal Fair in Vieques. Adults and children alike had the chance to receive valuable information from all these groups in one place. From pet nutrition to endangered animals, experts promoted their cause by educating with live demonstrations, food preparation, arts and crafts and presentations. Our special guest, Centro Milivi and Reach for Success received personalized attention by all of the exhibitors. _DSC7364
Animal Control Officers, Iris QuiƱones and Beatriz Rodriguez traveled to Vieques to promote the protection of animals and the prevention of cruelty. They expressed their concern for the animals in Vieques and agreed to collaborate with JUNTOS in the near future.
The pet nutrition expert, Jose Esteban from Natural Balance brought lots of goodies and important information on maintaining our pets on a heathy diet considering specific health conditions.
Colon Horse Riding brought a horse to demonstrate proper horse treatment and care. Children where impressed with the docile behavior “Chilindrina” demonstrated.
Local veterinarian, Andrea Kaufman from the Isla Nena Animal Clinic set up an elaborate display to recreate a basic veterinary clinic to promote preventive medicine and the importance of spay and neutering of pets. _DSC7413
Volunteers from The Vieques Humane Society promoted adoptions. Mark Martin from The Vieques Conservation of Trust and History, and Sandra Ortiz Fish and Wildlife Services provided great information and fun activities for the little ones.
Proyecto REDES as always present and involved in our cause, and Lenni from Lucky 1 was kind enough to donate artwork for our raffle.
Also the “Eat Vegan” exhibit had some great information on conscious eating and cruelty free living.
Not to forget our youngest JUNTOS collaborator and “mini” Humane Educator, Naora Paz was happy to teach other kids how to prepare easy and heathy snacks for dogs and also helped with the craft table. _DSC7416
Needless to say everyone played an important part of our fair and JUNTOS is thankful to all that came. Hope to see you next year!
