This school semester, as part of our Humane Education Program, a group of 10th graders from the German Rickehoff High School in Vieques will take part in an extraordinary, one of a kind project. Once a month from August to December students will develop a Pet Disaster Preparedness Campaign. Leading to a community outreach activity lead by the students, in which they will educate viequenses on how to prepare for a disaster with their pets in mind. With the help of Vieques ¨Manejo de Emergencias¨ (Emergency Response), they will not only learn how to save their pet’s life, but theirs as well.
To make this happen we need a little help from our friends. Part of the project is to create their own Emergency Pet Pack, similar to basic first aid kits. Anyone who would like to donate any or all of the materials on the list bellow please leave a note, or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We need enough to make 35 kits. Thank you for your support!
Materials needed, each kit should include the following:
Absorbent gauze pads
Cotton balls or swabs
Fresh 3% hydrogen peroxide
Scissors with blunt end
OTC antibiotic ointment
Oral syringe or turkey baster
Liquid dishwashing detergent (for bathing)
Large plastic bags ( Ziploc)
