Bringing Hope and Change to “At Risk” Communities

Posted in: Humane Education, In the News

Once again this year JUNTOS has teamed up with REDES from the Department of Family. We share a common goal to end violence and cruelty in “At Risk” communities and provide hope for children and their families.
Our target community has been Lucila Franco in Vieques. Since the construction of these 53 homes, the community has been the center of controversy. None of which it’s residents are responsible for. Issues between a federal agency and non profit organization have left these families with the uncertainty of being evicted from their humble homes.
At first glance you may see many sick and neglected animals. But when you meet these children and their families you realize that they have big hearts and simply have been victims themselves by the lack of resources and information.
By bringing fun, interactive and educational activities to the children, plus support and information to the adults, we are guiding them towards a more responsible and compassionate way of caring for their pets, as well as respecting wildlife.

If you would like to help provide veterinary care by sponsoring a check up, deworming, vaccination or spay/neuter to a limited resource family in this community, please contact us or make a donation on this site with a note describing how you want to help.
